v1Bar Harbor, USA

Monday, October 27th, 2014

Yesterday was our last day at Canadian port named Halifax, in Nova Scotia. Today we are leaving Canadian waters, and we are headed to the USA. Ship’s doing another reposition and the excitement is visible in behavior of the crew members. Why is that, you ask?

That is because we started this tour in the cold water of the British Isles and Norwegian fjords. Then we moved to the even colder area of the eastern Canadian coast and northeast coast of the USA. Finely we came to end of being in the cold waters. We have turned around our ship, and we are heading to the Caribbean Sea, full steam ahead.

But there is one advantage of the cold waters – they are paradise for deep sea fishing. Just think of the serial “Deadliest Catch” and you will know what I’m talking about. Definitely, there is no better place to enjoy amazing taste of fresh from the water sea food such as a lobster and crab’s legs. While we were leaving the beautiful nature of the northern water’s I said to myself “I want to have a bite of this amazing fresh sea food once again”.

And where is my lobster?

Testa'sAnd so it was. Tomorrow, ship had early arrival in Bar Harbor, USA and we were anchored around half past six. Around the noon I was already ashore walking and searching for a nice restaurant. Eventually I saw a massive metal lobster hanging right in front of me. Obviously it was the huge logo of the restaurant. That sign had only one meaning: “Deliciously served lobster”. The name of the restaurant is “Testa’s Restaurant”. Somehow that name was familiar to me, but in that moment I could not remember why.

As soon as I stepped inside the amazingly friendly staff provided me with a nice table on the first floor. With Idea to get rid of last night hangover and to get warm (outside was very cold that day) I took a cup of Irish coffee first.

For the main meal I chose specialty of the house. As appetizers they served butter with blended olives and fresh warm bread. First dish was warm soup with lobster meat mixed with veggies. It was incredibly delicious. soup

While I was waiting for main course, a asked my waitress about the restaurant. This is what she told me…

From the History of Testa’s Restaurant

In 1985, the Testa family arrived in Chicago, from Sicily. Mike Sr , a Ten-year old at that time, was from a hardworking industrial family. By the time he was in his twenties, the young man owned and operated his own sandwich shop in the nearby summer resort of South Haven. There he sold ice cream, soda, homemade pies and cigars to vacationers who were telling him stories about warmth and beauty of Palm Beach, Florida where they wintered. In the fall of 1921, Mike followed his customer’s advices and opened a small soda fountain in the Garden Theater – small movie house in Palm Beach. Their business grew based on personal service, customer satisfaction and of course – great strawberry pie. Over the year’s excellent service and good food developed fantastic reputation for his business. Each winter, business grew resulting in several moves to larger spaces.

At last, in 1933 Testa’s Restaurant moved to Royal Poinciana Way, in Palm Beach where they are today, serving three meals a day. Finally I remembered how that name was familiar to me.

In 1933, as the summer economy in Michigan began to sour, Mike Sr. listened to his customers again. They told him about their summer vacations in Bar Harbor, Maine. In the summer of 1934 Testa’s Restaurant and Hotel opened on Main Street in Bar Harbor. Again, the space was small but this time he had somebody he can rely on. His two sons were next to him: Mike Jr. and Joe. Soon the Testa’s tradition of “Pines in the summer” and “Palms in the winter” became a way of life for both family and their employees.

Testa’s restaurant (Bar Harbor, USA)

Gradually, another family emerged – Testa’s faithful and loyal customers who frequented both restaurants. This customer’s family shared their own birthdays, Holidays, anniversaries and special occasions with the Testa family for almost a century.

In 1990 Testa met another challenge: The Bar Harbor restaurant was demolished and Bayside Landing was born, with Testa’s restaurant at its heart. Inside you will find the same great food and hospitality for everyone that has kept Testa’s Restaurant a round for almost the century. Today the Testa’s second, third and fourth generations invite you to enjoy their hospitality and hope that you make yourself part of the family.

At the time waitress finished the story about Testa’s history a main course was served in front of me. There is not too many thinks to say about it: unbelievable well prepared Lobster with mashed potatoes.

For the end as Testa would said: PINES IN THE SUMMER, PALMS IN THE WINTER

Thasos or Thassos is the Greek island in the northern Aegean Sea. It is the northernmost and 12th largest by area Greek Island. Thasos is also the name of the largest town on the island (also known as Limenas Thasou, “Harbour of Thasos”), situated at the northern side of the island, opposite to the mainland and about 10 kilometers (6 mi) from Keramoti.

thassos-carte

I was over there 2 years in a row for summer vacation with my family. First time in 2013 and second time this summer. Overall we spent 40 days on the island.

Here is my expirience with couple of friendly suggestions and advices that will help you expirience the beauties of the island.

Let’s start.

Why should I go to Thasos?

Because it is incredibly beautiful island, totally covered with evergreen and olive trees, with huge mountains (even though island is not big it has highest point at 1400 meters above the sea level) and over 30 sandy beache with turquois lukewarm water (28* Celsius degrees). The moment you step foot at the island you will immediately fall in love. It is trully love at first sight.

thassos01

How to get there

Having in mind there is no airport on the island, you can get there only by ferry. From Keramoti port on the mainland you will need about 40 minutes. In the summer time, there is a very good connection, and you can catch a ferry every 45 minutes.

There is alternative to Keramoti – city Kavala,. Distance between this two cities is only 35 kilometers, but you will need extra 2 hours by ferry if you are going from Kavala.

Accommodation?

There are three ” bigger” towns and a lot of villages at the island. Some of them are on the sea side but some are up in the hills. The biggest are: Thasos (aka Limenas), Potos and Limenaria. Thasos is at the north part of the island, Potos and Limenas are at the south part. Distance between LImenas and Potos is 3 kilometers, and both are 45-50 kilometers from Thasos.

Our warm recommendation for accommodation goes to Villa Morfeas appartments. It is 2 kilometers from the city Thasos, on Nistery beach, less then 50 meters from the water. No road, no traffic, nothing separates villa and water.

20140806_081527

Villa Morfeas

Nistery is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, perfect for children, with shallow water and just ocasional and small waves. At the beach you can rent sunbeds, 5 euro pair include one drink. One caffe and one restaurant are on the baech as well.

20140730_091926

Nisteri beach

We paid 85 euro per day for 5 bed apartment with two separate rooms, 3 terraces, kitchen, bathroom… Apartments are clean, house keeper comes every day and they are changing sheets every three days… You will a fealing like you are in five star hotel.

If you prefer some other places, you can visit website http://www.vouchersky.com/stores/2-easyjet-holidays and for reasonable price find accommodation that can satisfy your needs.

Restaurants (Taverns)

There are a lot of restaurants, but we will recommend three:

thCA0JA6ZIMouses (Limenas) – easy to find, it is 50 meters from the port, across the road. Best ratio price/quality, it offers unbelievable delicious sea food, fish and all types of meat. Our recommendation is sea food and fish, but if you prefer meat then we suggest you take lamb specialty.

Drosia (Panagia) –in the small village with the same name, 5 kilometers from Limenas, straight in the hills. Incredible tasty Lamb specialties.

O Vasilis (Kazaviti) – another small village, 20 kilometers from Limenas but in other direction from Here you can eat Lamb chops prepared from Thasos lambs. Due to the fact that there is limited number of lambs on Thasos, don’t be late for lunch cause every day they can serve only limited number of lamb chops, The price follows the exclusivity: 35 euro per kilo.

FastfoodthCAWI9GOO

You can eat gyros where ever you want, it tastes the same everywhere, just perfect. But I would recomend you try something else – visit Masabuka souvlaki bar, and you will reach gastronomic orgasm you never had. I had never eat something that tasty as souvlaky at Masabuka bar. Don’t forget to ask for kababs, mushrooms and grilled feta. This three dishes plus souvlaky are like gastronomic musketeers plus D’Artagnian…

Drinks

If you like beer, you should try Fix. If you prefer short drinks, definitely your choice should be Ouzo (Greek national drink).

Ouzo is traditionally mixed with water, becoming cloudy white sometimes with a faint blue tinge, and served with ice cubes in a small glass. It can also be drunk straight from a shot glass. Ouzo is traditionally served with a small plate of a variety of appetizers called mezes usually small fresh fish, fries, olives and feta cheese. Ouzo can be described to have a similar taste to absinthe which is liquorice-like, but smoother.

Regarding wine, our choice was Retsina – it is a white resinated wine which has been made for at least 2000 years. Its unique flavor is said to have originated from the practice of sealing wine vessels, particularly amphorae, with Aleppo Pine resin in ancient times.retsinaBefore the invention of impermeable glass bottles, oxygen caused many wines to spoil within the year. Pine resin helped keep air out, while at the same time infusing the wine with resin aroma. The Romans began to use barrels in the 3rd century AD, removing any oenological necessity for resin, but the flavor itself was so popular that the style is still widespread today.

Beaches

Northwest side of the Island:

  • Nistery,
  • La Scala,
scala2

La Scala

  • Glifoneri,
  • Pahys,

East side of the Island:

Marble

Marble beach

  • Marble beach, which was closed in 2014, but definitely most beautiful beach on the island,
  • Aliki: fancy and most expensive beach on the island in the term of sunbeds rent and last but not least
  • Paradise Beach
8

Aliki

Please note: if there is strong wind blowing and the waves are high, water will not be crystal clear at La Scala and Pahys. The biggest waves you will see are at Paradise Beach, over there is windy all the time. Not to forget: rocky part of the Paradise beach is only for naturist. It is the only nudist beach on the island.

Giola – extremely beautiful beach but have in mind not to go after 11am because it is extremely hot and you need to walk for 2 miles without any shade. Go only if water is clear and totally still, in other cases it looks like mud. For the water to be clear it needs to be at least two days without any wind and waves.

This is ours experience, and we tried to share with you all our know-how about Thasos. We hope you like it and we hope , that once you will come to this great island and share our experience as well.

europe-map-montenegro_bigAbout Montenegro

It is small country with 620.000 residents in South East Europe. This ex-Yugoslav republic is bordered by Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Albania by land and Italy by Adriatic sea. Montenegro has incredible beautiful nature, high mountains like Mount Lovcen and Mount Orjen, large lakes (Lake Skadar is the largest), 293 kilometers of coastline and 73 kilometers of beaches at the coast of the Adriatic Sea. Durmitor, Tara River Canyon and old city Kotor are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

About Tara River Canyonuntitled

It’s a longest Canyon in Montrenegro. It is 82 kilometers (51 miles) long and is 1,300 meters (4,300 feet) at its deepest; making it the deepest river canyon in Europe and 2nd in the world Colorado is the 1st.

About Bridge

The bridge was built between 1937 and 1940 and designed by Mijat Trojanović. On completion it was the largest concrete arch bridge in Europe for motorized traffic. The bridge is 365 meters long and has five arches, the largest of a span is 116 meters. The distance between the road and the river is 172 meters.

About Zip lining

Zip line consists of a pulley suspended on a cable, usually made of stainless steel, mounted on an incline. It is designed to enable a user propelled by gravity to travel from the top to the bottom of the inclined cable by holding on to, or attached to, the freely moving pulley.
dave-on-a-costa-rican-zipline
Zip-lines come in many forms, most often used as a means of entertainment. Zip line tours are becoming popular vacation activities, found at outdoor adventure camps or upscale resorts, where they may be an element on a larger challenge or ropes course. The jungles of Costa Rica, Florida, Puerto Vallarta and Nicaragua are popular destinations for zip line enthusiasts.

About My Parents

They were totally pissed off when they realized that I will spent my free time at Montenegro doing Zip lining, instead of being with them after 6 months absence from home.

About my impressions regarding Zip lining over Tara River Canyon

  • Price 10 euro – acceptable (having in mind this is experience of a life time)
  • Height – 170 meters, it’s Ok (???)
  • Length – 350 meters
  • Flight Speed – 50km/h (around 30mp/h) – it’s Ok
  • Flight Duration – 40 sec

At first, you are full of adrenalin and totally excited. People around you make this felling increase, even though I believe they are thinking: look at this guy, how crazy is he? If he drops down, there will be just a stain on the ground.
But when they start preparing you for the flight, the moment you are putting your safety gear, you feel like all adrenalin is gone. Then you start to feeling that you are going to shit your pants.
And when they say you are ready to go everything is changing again and coming to its place: your blood boils up again and your hart is beating like crazy, you are shouting like a madman YEEEEEEHHHHHHAAAAAA.
In a moment only one thought goes through your head: please, make it longer. Please, please, please! At least an hour!

And I caught it all on camera… Enjoy watching

About nudists in general
Until last year, I thought that nudists are a specific strain of lunatics who lack a pair of marbles in the head.

And then, in 2012 ended up with my family in Cateske Spa (Slovenia), where the Slovenes cast me out of the sauna because everywhere in Slovenia, entrance to the sauna is allowed only if you’re naked.
Of course, I took off my pants and proudly walked back into the sauna.

That was the first time I walked, sat and bathed stark naked in the presence of people of both sexes. Yes, there are saunas that are mixed – visited by both men and women. In any case, it left such a positive impression on me that I went back to the spa, twice, together with my wife.

The feeling of freedom …
Yes … it’s the main comment of all nudists to the question of what is so special about nudism. And it really is a fantastic feeling.

corsenaturistecoupleterrasse

In the name of the freedom: Cheers!

As Red Bull gives you wings, removing your clothing gives a sense of freedom. I suppose that the whole experience is the result of the secretion of serotonin and dopamine known as hormones of happiness. Why they do not secrete when you take your shorts off and leave your, I don’t know.

Nudist beaches

This year we checked out Thassos where we had the desire to also visit Paradise beach, the only naturist beach there, but it turned out that there were only few traces of nudists. It is that disappointment that motivated our decision of ‘Let’s go to Ada Bojana, and whatever God gives us’

And now a little about Ada Bojana

Ada has a right triangular shape. What would be the hypotenuse, ie the lower side, presents a 3 km long beach, while the legs are two branches of the river Bojana. The left arm is the border with Albania.
So, without passport between your teeth don’t swim out of Bojana.

1756880866502698243d23d867476860_orig

Ada Bojana (Montenegro)

Entrance

When you finally get there, you’ll find the ramp where you pay a 5 euro entrance and continue to the complex. If you are a daily guest, you do not have the possibility of reimbursement of those 5 euros at the reception desk. If you have a paid night, you get a refund of € 5 when checking out only if you have not lost your receipt as proof that you have paid the entrance.

Accommodation

There are 4 types of accommodation. Camp, Bungalows (60 euros per day), Rooms (70€), Apartments (90€).

ADA B1

Bungalows

The price is for two people, being a type of bed and breakfast. Facilities include a reception area with a hotel restaurant, mini market and a restaurant on the beach. Everything is on the right side of the beach, near the right arm of Bojana.

And now a little about the beach and disrobing

The aforementioned complex can be walked naked or clothed. At the reception and the restaurant clothing is required, while the restaurant on the beach you make your own decision.

On the beach nudity is an understood requirement. Monitors, i.e. lifeguards, are making sure that this rule is respected. The beach has two parts, developed and wild.

011-vi
The developed part is about 500 meters long with sun loungers and parasols, while the wild beach is about 2.5 km long.

Our impression is that the nudists are grouped as follows: the older and more conservative couples plus families with children in a regulated area while the liberal couples are in the wild. It is the most densely landscaped area, and the density decreases as you move away.
What characterizes this beach is the migrating – you have the impression that all day, all people is walking from one end to the other.

There are two types of liberals: male-female and male-male. They say that the number of male-male seriously increased in recent years. They are usually stationed at the end of the beach, (part nearest to Albania). Towards the end of the beach, on average, there is one pair for every 50-100 meters.

Sex on the Beach
wallpaper_20100104025605_6828665672

There is some, but really less than what we expected. In the sea, on the beach or in the grove behind the sand, both types of couples partake. Mostly such activities take place at the farthest part. It is for this reason that the migration occurs on the beach – for example you’re lying down with your loved one and reading a book, when you get bored, you march to the border with Albania, have some fun and then get back in line for the next round.

Male-male couples are more practical. They camped along the border all day and don’t have to walk back and forth in the sand two or three times a day. They just get in the sea or in the thickets and do their thing.

About your ‘activities in nature’ there is one problem and that is individuals who like to watch.
So if the scent of the sea, the roar of the waves, the song of seagulls, and sunset to half carries you away to show how much you love her, and somehow there appears an individual 10 meters away from you and keeps looking, it’s best to stop what you started and wait until they leave. Otherwise, if he’s adamant you will not shake him until the end of summer. There are less of these types individuals weekdays and more during weekends.

These are some of the basic things that I did not know before coming, and that sent me to the people who often stay at these beaches.

Overall impressions

What are our impressions after three days spent there?
The accommodations are bad, the price is relatively high, wild beaches are filthy, but an unforgettable experience and worth every penny.

hqdefault
Here, however, one does not come for the food, beaches, lodging or swimming, but the overall feeling of freedom that can not be described but must be experienced.

During my the three days stay, I was wearing clothes only when I went into the restaurant for breakfast.
The rest of the time I enjoyed naturalism.

In the end – Come, try and you will not go wrong.

To be totally honest with you, only two years ago my wife and I despised the whole nude concept of vacation and that kind of behavior.
But, after we have visited Spa & Baths in Slovenia and Hungary (you are obliged to be nude over there, especially in Slovenia), and spent summer vacation at Ada Bojana Naturist Resort (Montenegro) and Koversada (Croatia) we collected a lot of good vibes and positive impressions about nudist way of vacation.
We already have an idea which nudist resort we are going to visit next year. So the summer just ended and we already have planned it for next year!

This was our trip of becoming nudist and how did people reacted when we told them we are nudist:

First reaction is very dramatic: “You are not normal!!!”
But few seconds after, they start to ask: “Tell me how it was? I want to know every detail!”

Usually, every one of them asks almost the same questions:

  • Do you fill a shame when you are nude? (Even if I were I would still do it.)
  • And your wife? (At the beginning yes, later she started enjoying it)
  • Did you have an erection? (Why would I have erection?)
  • Does anyone else on the beach have erection? (I didn’t notice)
  • Do you look each other intimate parts? (We are not animals to sniff and look each other’s intimate parts )
  • Are there any gay people over there? (Yes)
  • Were they flirting with you? (Why would they do that?)
  • Are you swingers? (Nope)

Beach on the island

After you answer a first round of questions, conversation continues in one of the five possible directions, depending on the interviewer.

Type of person you are speaking with, can be:

  1. The one with the secret, version 1: He has something to admit.

“My wife and I were also at the nudist beach last year, and had a wonderful time, but please keep it to yourself, do not tell anyone.”

  1. The one with the secret, version 2: He also has something to admit.

“Every year, my wife and I picked the small beach without people, and enjoyed being nude”

When you tell them: “You don’t need to hide, go to the regular nude beach”

They response: “Why would I go to the nude beach where everyone can look at my intimate parts?”

  1. People who would like to go, but they don’t know how to do it

“I would like to go, but my wife doesn’t. She even turns off the lights in the bedroom before she takes her clothes off”

  1. Weird people

The worst type you talk about nudism.
First, they tell you that they totally support what you are doing. They admit they are fans of nudism.
Then, they even tell you that they will do it next year with their vacation, visit nudist beach.

But… After a while, you hear some rumors from your friends, and people you know:

“Your close friend told as that you are a pervert”

“Whaaaaat? Why am I a pervert? What did he told you?”

“Don’t act dumb, he told us everything. He told as that during your summer vacation you were at Nudist resort, doing everything over there?”

“What was I doing?”

“He told as that you were nude all the time, without any clothes”

  1. People that understand, support and do the same thing as you are. This is generally very small percentage of people, but definitely the ones that can really understand the beauty of the freedom that you are talking about.

The point of the story is: stick to the fifth group, support the first group, and never talk to fourth group. And give the other 2 groups some time to think about it.

Beach on the island

Last year, for the first time in my life, we vacationed in a nudist colony. Our choice then was Ada Bojana (Montenegro).
Enthusiastic about the concept of nudism, but disappointed with the quality of services in Ada Bojana, this summer we decided to travel to Croatia. We chose Koversada.

A little about Koversada

It is in part of Croatia called Istria, near city Vrsar, 10km from Porec, and 30km from Rovinj, perhaps the most beautiful city in Istra.
panoramska
Koversada is the largest ex-Yugoslav nudist resort, with a tradition of over 50 years. It covers about 100 acres. In addition to the land part, the complex includes an island.

Accommodations and prices

Accommodation facilities include: bungalows (villas), apartments and camping. Most tourists are just campers (tents, caravans and motorhomes). The capacity of the complex is 6,000 tourists.

We were accommodated in bungalows. Bed and breakfast for two people costs about 70 euros per day. The bungalows are OK, but biting at the tooth of time. We had no complaints about the accommodation, and its biggest contribution is the quality of services as well as the abnormally friendly hosts.
apartmani
Unlike the bungalows, the apartments are 4 star. In accordance with this, so is their price.

The food in the restaurant is excellent, buffet style. There is nothing you can imagine that isn’t offered and I, in my own style, decided on scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage. I can’t remember ever eating better bacon and sausage.

The whole complex is spotless, not to say perversely clean. Beaches are well maintained and set up beautifully, the water turquoise, and there is no chance of finding anything that doesn’t belong to the marine world. No tires, bottles, cans, tins or other trash. All in all, everything is perfect.

Additional services

The complex consists of a supermarket, Konzum and several cafes and restaurants. We were surprised by the prices. During happy hour, you can get a 0.5 mug of beer for 9 kuna. After 12h the prices are higher, so the beer is 18 kuna, pizza 45 kuna (excellent pizza), sea bream and sea bass are 80 kuna a portion (Thursdays 30% discount), 0,7 liter Malvasia wine for 85 kuna, mackerel portion 36 kuna (HRK 75 = 1 euro). Besides the pizza, everything else is enumerated in a fantastic restaurant on the island along the coast. It goes without saying that all the fish is fresh and well prepared, and the Malvasia goes with it like icing on a cake.

Beaches and sea

All beaches are designed as smaller or larger concrete slabs from which the stairs lead into the water.

A small sandy beach is made especially for small children and is located on the continental part, while the island is a large sandy beach. In fact, couples with children are at the gravelly and sandy beach, while others are mainly at the concrete slabs.

plaza ispod restorana

Before departure, they scared us by telling us the water temperature would be freezing. Although it was the end of June when we stayed there, with not a lot of sunny days in June, the water was more than OK. Not as hot as in Greece, but nothing cooler than the water in any pool. When I entered the water, I’d stay in an hour at a time.

So I don’t forget – for the first time last year, I experienced a sense of freedom as a nudist. This year, I found a way to raise that feeling to the next level.
i.e. I bought equipment for snorkeling and diving all day without pants. If you exclude that slight sense of fear that a beluga will come out of the rocks and nip your privates for one thing, butt naked diving is a feeling like no other which I am brining back home with me. If a butt naked walk rates 5, diving is a pure 10!

Of the guests

20140629_083721The general impression is that the prevailing aging population as well as couples with children is the majority. Slightly less is middle aged and the least is persons aged 18 to 28 years. For five days we saw only one young couple.

As for the elderly, just by itself the impression that all these old nudists who first took off their underpants experienced it right here in the late 70’s and early 80’s, when nudity was in full swing and the Koversada tourists were each sitting on top of one another due to the sheer volume of them. We were told and later confirmed at reception – that there are guests who are third generation nudists who visited Koversada.

Dominated by foreigners, Croats are almost non-existent, and we did not see any Serbs while we stayed. Foreigners who the most numerous are Czechs and Germans, while there are plenty of Slovenes, Italians and Slovaks.

Frei Korper Kultur- FKK

What is it with the undressing? Unlike Ada, where almost exclusively you only have nudity on the beach, here the situation is different. Almost all of the time you are nude, both on and off the beach and in the complex. There were those who went a little over the top by riding a bike butt naked. The restaurants on the beach allow nudity, but almost all were covered by towels or shorts.
kamperi

Regarding some intimate culture. 90% of persons belonging to both sexes were completely depilated in intimate areas, regardless of age! The other 10%, were completely natural.

Sex on the beach

Hmmmm. Before arriving and during our stay there, we got some information that the back side of the island, in the evening hours, anything is possible. We did not have a chance to bump into it. However, while moving from restaurants to bars, there’s a part of the wild rocky beach with a couple of hidden places in the undergrowth. Several discrete pairs were positioned in these places so we assume that the information about the action on the island abounding still has some truth.

So, because of the kids, bigger crowds and the strict penalties in the Croatian law (130 euros) for making love in public, sex on Koversada is not something that you see during the day

What can be encountered is light petting, discreet intimate touching, sometimes an erection during nap time while sunbathing, but no classical action such as Ada Bojana.

Panoramic viewThe overall impression

It is because of this amazing spontaneity and the absence of any tourist’s complexes, we were feeling good. It is more than clear that they all came for rest and relaxation, not about the sex on the beach, posing and showing. We enjoyed staying in such a group of people with the same concepts that nudity is seen as the ultimate sense of hedonistic freedom, not as a disorder or ugly.

In closing

If you want a first nudist experience that will leave you with a nice memory and without fear that you’ll meet someone who knows you, Koversada is the right choice.

If you have already been to nudist beaches and were disappointed with the service and accommodations, irritated that you have to watch couples who act inappropriately next to you, then hurry here, you will not go wrong.

If you are interested in nudism just for sex on the beach, then … Hmmmm … well there is a compromise. 30km from Koversada located in Punta Cross. For those who do not know, it’s a beach for which last August, the entire Croatian coast introduced penalties for sex on the beach. However, despite the provisions of the action it is still happening. According to what we have described, such a degree of action isn’t even at Ada Bojana.

Before this, if you are in any of these groups, visiting Koversada cannot be missed.

There are two problems related to Cycling in the town I grew up:

  • Bicycle is considered transportation vehicle you use to go to the store with. Bicycle as a sport? No way, we already have soccer and basketball!
  • The area where I live is totally flat. You can drive 200 miles in one direction and you want make an altitude difference more than 3 feet. Hill is something you can only dream about.

When I realized that I’m visiting Alaska I was thrilled.

Why?

  • Firstly I never have been to Alaska, and I’ve always wanted to experience by myself the unreal nature and wilderness I have only seen on TV
  • Secondly well this is going to sound crazy to you but I really got bored with Caribbean exotic destinations that are offering gorgeous beaches, beach bars and beautiful bikini girls.

My route was designed to allow me to experience the best of Alaska: visiting the glaciers, fjords, landing in Juneau…

Landing in Juno means only one thing – I’m renting a bike and heading straight to the hills. That was my first objective.
I was tired of riding in shopping malls I wanted to taste the nature!

So that’s how it started.
When we landed in Juneau, there was no snow because it was end of April. It is beautiful little city of 30000 inhabitans, lying down on the seaside. It is also in the base of wonderful hills crisscrossed with countless hiking – cycling tracks.

To choose a track should be no problem to there is a million of them there, at least I thought that at the beginning.

The catch is to choose the right one:

  • one that should not be too demanding for out of training Cycler like me
  • and at the same time not too slow cause I’m adrenalin junky

Just like it happens I have failed to choose the right track. I was recommended to go to St. Roberts Trail, but I got to the old part of it that was closed.

I have chosen the track where I had to climb up and down 10 feet at a time. At some parts it was so stiff I had to carry the bike on my back. At the end I gave up and got down to the base somehow.

I needed to find some track ASAP, but how?

Luckily Alaska people are incredible kind so couple of local guys watched me struggle and offered me an advice where to go find the right trail for me. And that’s how I have found out about Granite Creek Trail.

The moment I have looked at it I knew it was the right one for me. No way would I let this one pass. My boyhood dream comes true. Some guys dream about expensive cars, or becoming a basketball player. My dream was to have endless MTB downhill ride!

The climb was very hard; it took me some 90 minutes to go to the top. Climbing, sweating, driving the bike a little, then pushing it a little.

At the top it was worth it, I did not even feel tired from the climb when I looked down that hill.
I was scared, excited, happy, and uncertain if I was going to go down… A particular mix of feeling I haven’t felt for long long time.

Finally, I started the ride!

My heart stopped for a moment then started beating like crazy. Then it moved to my throat.

I was on my way down… The wind is slapping my face, tears are falling down because of the speed, and I’m gripping the wheel so hard it is hurting my wrists. The fear is still there but the excitement is rising.

The curves are flashing before me, I notice the smile I have is so big that my ears are going to fall down, and the bugs in my month are ignored. The fact that only two feet from me is the abyss is so doesn’t matter.

Bumps and dives, unforgettable jumps line up along the ride. My heart moves from my throat to the heels. Adrenalin and oxygen molecules are creating excitement cocktail in my veins.

The Time has stopped. There is no sound or smell, only the trail my bike and I. Right there on Alaska In the mission of fulfilling my boy hood dream.

Woooooooooow… The feeling is incredible. Like when you drive the motorcycle 200kmph… No, no, even better!

And exactly eight minutes after I arrive at the base of the hill trail. My heart is pounding, I cannot wash off the smile I’m a little sad it is over. I have fulfilled my boyhood dream at the craziest place in the world, that I could not even imagine I would visit let alone follow my dream at.

I caught my ride on tape, named it Alaska downhill with MTB so I can see it again, and again, and again…

Two hours have passed since I returned to my quarters. I’m starring at the ceiling, wistful and still with the smile on my face. My roommate comes in and says: “Admit it Cume you are in love! Who is she?”

With that crazy smile on my face I say: “Yes, I’m in love, but you will never know her name…”

Wishing I will repeat this ride at least one more time

all the best,

Cume

As you have noticed, I’m sharing with you some of my previous expeditions.

For the time being, I’m at home, preparing my new adventure that should start on 22nd September. You will be able to follow my reports from some of the most famous places in the world.

New York, Miami, Carnival in RIO, Patagonia, Lima, L.A. you can follow all of them on www.nemagreske.com

Till then, I’m sharing with you all amazing places I’ve been to, all the beautiful people I’ve met, and all about fantastic food I’ve enjoyed.
And while I’m thinking about food, there is one place I will definitely never forget – pizzeria Brandi, Naples, Italy.

Brandi is located in Naples near to the Piazza del Plebiscito, some 200 meters up on the hill. It is very easy to find.

In that small street, history is hidden:

Raffaele Esposito was the Italian owner of a tavern called Pizzeria di Pietro e Basta Cosi in the Nineteenth century, and is considered by some to be the father of modern pizza. In 1889, pizza had not yet become a popular or well-known dish, and was typically eaten by poor people as a way to use up various ingredients that would otherwise go to waste. At that time, Esposito was considered the premier pizza-maker in the city of Naples. Esposito was therefore requested to prepare a pizza for Queen Margherita of Savoy, who had traveled to Naples with King Umberto I. Esposito and his wife were admitted to the royal kitchens to prepare this dish as he saw fit. Deeming the traditional garlic topping to be unfit for the royal palate, Esposito instead prepared three different pizzas, the last of which used a combination of tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and basil to emulate the red, white, and green of the Italian flag. It is claimed by some sources that this was the first time pizza was made with mozzarella cheese.

Queen Margherita, having never had pizza before, so enjoyed the dish that she had her head of table services send Esposito a letter to commend his pizzas, stating that they “were found to be delicious”. Esposito used this recommendation to successfully promote his restaurant, naming the pizza most enjoyed by the Queen, “Pizza Margherita”. It is widely reported that this event caused pizza to become a fad, from which it retained enduring popularity. Because of Esposito’s experiments with ingredients and presentation, and his successful preparation of the dish for Queen Margherita, it is suggested by some that Esposito was the father of the modern pizza. Esposito’s restaurant still exists, although the name has been changed to Pizzaria di Brandi, and the royal letter favoring Esposito’s pizza is on display in the restaurant.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopaedia

The service is typically Italian – they are enjoying it and keeping it slow.

While you wait for your food you have enough time to enjoy all the beautiful photos inside. You will see a lot of famous people on the photos. Then you realize that Brandi is hot spot for celebrities like Alberto di Monaco, Luciano Pavarotti and many others. Also, you’ll notice well known certificate from the Queen Margherite.

Finally, when pizza arrives, magic starts:
First you will see the shape and color that intrigues you.
Then you smell it’s aroma… It enchants you.
At the end you try it and feel the taste…pure magic.
There is only one word that can closely describe it: ORGASM.
No, two words: GASTRONOMIC ORGASM.
Orgasm for the mouth, tongue, throat, nose…

Officially you are hooked and so happy because you know that you are addicted to the best pizza in the world.
No question about that.
Everything else: the service, the people, the ambient it all become irrelevant.

When I left this place, there was only one thing on my mind: I must come back …I must come back … I must come back…

So, if you ever find yourself in Naples, you must try the best pizza in the world.

That’s all for now,

To be continued…
Yours truly,
Cume

barbados-beachThe Caribbean, Wooow!
This is usually the first reaction my friends have when I tell I was there. The first time for me was in 2011, and till today I went there couple more times.

It’s really a Wow when you look at the phenomenal beaches, turquoise blue sea, white sand, amazing beach clubs, parties, topless, bikini’s, beautifully tanned girls…

It’s a little bit lesser Wow if you want to see anything else.DSCN0813 - Copy
The architecture is let say nothing special, the cities and towns are something in between not too rich and not too poor and they all look alike in every aspect of life. I cannot really say that I was impressed.
Let’s get back to great things about the Caribbean, the things that really separate one Caribbean Sea Island from all the others.

The island is Barbados, the town is Bridgetown, and the thing that makes the difference is the club Boatyard, the most famous club in this part of the world.

boatyard_cruise_pass_flyer_front_NEW

It’s the 24/7 party club, consist of several different parts the lounge part, a dock, a restaurant and cafe cafe with a large bar
The entrance is $5 and you get one free drink for that. At the Restaurant you can order burgers, grill, fries and you can have a table and eat there or you can take your food to the lounge part and with comfort have your meal on the beach looking at the beautiful sea.

The restaurant and the bar close at the evening when the club transforms to a party zone that you will remember for the rest of your life.
boatyard4

Last February I’ve organized myself one crazy party at the Boatyard. The motive was my 27th birthday!
DSCN1177
I felt excited to be able to organize something at the place like Boatyard. I took the chance when it opened to me like that.
DSCN1217
There were 20 of my guests and we started the party at 11 am. Music, alcohol, sun, fun, bathing, splashing made us feel like horny teenagers, again.

The party started with the first round of 40 drinks and closed up with the $500 bill, which is more than affordable having in mind we had the whole day party for 20 people at such exotic place, the best Caribbean club Boatyard.

It turns out that the most expensive thing for a cruise is the plane ticket to a boarding port. There is a catch you can use for that too but we will cover that some other time ;) ….

Two years ago, I had an opportunity to visit Aruba. I’m glad, I didn’t miss it.

Aruba is small Island (30x9km) at south Caribbean Sea north of the coast of Venezuela. Aruba and the other Dutch islands in the Caribbean are often called the Netherlands Antilles or the Dutch Caribbean. Beautiful white sand beaches, warm locals make you feel very comfortable here.

Two most popular and well known beaches are Palm Beach…

Palm Beach

Palm Beach

…and Eagle Beach.

Eagle beach

Of course, tourism is the main economy provider, and most tourists come from America predominantly from the north-east US. Not so many Europeans come to visit Aruba, but in the future I expect more and more of them will come and visit this jewel of Caribbean.

p1180778

Reason for large number of tourists is probably due to the climate conditions. The Aruba Island is outside of the hurricane zone, so it has nice weather all year long. And the because of the Passat (type of the wind), a lot of surfers come here to enjoy magnificent waves.

Capital city is Oranjestad with typical Caribbean architecture. On Oranjestad there is a port for big cruisers. 30 minutes walking distance from the port is city beach with famous Nikky Beach Club.

10171106_365882080237281_7211247305139186817_n

This beach club is very popular among tourists (especially the ones on Cruise tours) because it’s not far away from the port so they can easily come here and enjoy whole day long in the sunbeds couple of feet from the sea.

img17

Nikky Beach Club also serves incredible tasty food, huge portions and lovely cocktails. The lack of crowd and worm service and hospitality at the club, make this place stand out from the similar beach clubs.

Cheers

For the ones who want more pleasure, there is a fantastic pool that can satisfy their needs. Bar in the pool together with sunbeds placed in the water can accommodates even biggest hedonists.

NIKKI-BEACH

You can lay down, relax at pool and enjoy reading your book while you are drinking fabulous cocktail.

My suggestion for closing:
If you are a party animal you should visit The Boatyard (Barbados). Best place to recharge your batteries and relax is Nikky Beach Club.
